Contents | The contents focus on data collection methods in qualitative research in educational psychology, with a specific focus on the collection of audio-video recordings and interview techniques. The key factors for data collection planning will be explored, considering the objectives of the research and the constraints of the context in which it takes place. Some relational aspects concerning the interaction with the participants will also be discussed. Practical activities in small groups, supervised by the teacher, will allow students to develop basic know-how for the implementation of qualitative methods of data collection. |
Textbook and course materials | Slides provided during the course and scientific articles shared by the teacher. |
Course objectives | At the end of the activity the student will have developed basic skills for the collection of qualitative data, showing to be able to apply basic procedures and methodological principles. The skills learned will allow students to collaborate in research activities and / or professional intervention involving the collection of qualitative data in educational contexts (in particular interviews and audio-video recordings in the classroom). The skills learned can be used in the following contexts: |
Prerequisites | No prerequisites. |
Teaching methods | The 2-credit internship consists of 4 meetings of 4 hours each with the presence of the teacher, to which are added 34 hours of activities managed independently by the students. The meetings with the teacher are aimed both at providing the knowledge necessary for carrying out the practical activity and at starting and monitoring the progress of the activities carried out autonomously. |
Evaluation methods | The evaluation will be based on an individual report drawn up according to the teacher's indications and on a group presentation carried out during the last meeting. Pass grade is acquired with the positive evaluation of both the individual paper and the group presentation. The evaluation criteria will be as follows: |

Course Syllabus | As described in the content section, data collection methods in qualitative research in educational psychology will be covered, with a specific focus on the collection of audio-video recordings and interview techniques. The key factors for data collection planning will be explored, considering the objectives of the research and the constraints of the context in which it takes place. Some relational aspects concerning the interaction with the participants will also be deepened. Practical activities in small groups, supervised by the teacher, will allow students to develop basic operational skills (know-how) for the implementation of qualitative methods of data collection. The program includes the use of slides provided by the teacher to support practical activities. Students will be invited to deepen the study of the topics covered through the use of scientific articles and recommended texts for further study |
